QC of imagery. Orthophotos were edge-checked to ensure image alignment across tiles using ArcView 3.3. Orthos were checked for correct image alignment with vector data using VROne 2.0. Unwanted artifacts created during the scanning and rectification processes (such as dust particles, scratches, hair etc.) were removed using Corel Photopaint 8 and 11. Images were color balanced using Adobe PhotoShop 7.
Conversion of orthos to UTM. The cleaned, balanced orthos were mosaiced together in groups of 4 using SocetSet 4.4.1. The mosaiced orthos were transformed from the Ada County coordinate system to UTM using Blue Marble Geographic Transformer 5. The transformed mosaics were then recut to the correct size tiles using Socet Set 4.4.1. QC was then performed on each new tile.
Compression of images. The final UTM orthophoto tiles were compressed at a 20:1 ratio using MrSIDWorkstation 1.4.
